Friday, 10/6Front Porch Cinema on the Santa Monica Pier: [Free] Scoot up a chair on the pier for a showing of The Princess Bride (PG). Music begins at 6, and the movie begins at 7:30.

Friday-Sunday, 10/6-8IndieCade gaming Festival: [$20-$425] Taking place in Little Tokyo, IndieCade is a celebration of independent games. You and your Little will get the chance to explore the latest games from around the world.

Friday-Sunday, 10/6-8Greek Festival: [$3-5] Transport yourselves to Greece right in our backyard! The St Sophia Cathedral hosts this 3-day celebration of Greek food, dance, and songs.

Saturday, 10/7Car Show & Drive-In Movie: [Free] Paramount Ranch sets the scene for a car show in this historic western town. Movie history tours, kids’ activities, and a showing of Back to the Future round out the day.

Saturday, 10/7Youth Volunteer Day: [Free] The Descanso Gardens invites students 12+ years to go behind the scenes and take care of the educational gardening area. A great opportunity for Littles looking for volunteer credits!

Sunday, 10/8Harvest Festival: [Free] The Skirball Museum hosts a Sukkot festival, complete with musical and dance performances, and a community art project.

Sunday, 10/8Encino Family Festival: [Free] Over 100 vendors are participating in this year’s festival in Encino, which includes a kids’ fun zone!

Sunday, 10/8CicLAvia Heart of LA: [Free] From 9-4, 6 miles of streets will be car-free around Downtown LA! Cycle, skate, walk, or run through the city.

Sunday, 10/22P-22 Day & Urban Wildlife Festival: [Free] If your Little is a wildlife lover, take them to Shane’s Inspiration at Griffith Park for a day of nature hikes, art, and music honoring “the world’s most famous mountain lion.”

Sunday, 10/22Marine Teen Night: [$7] If your high school-aged Little would like to learn more about a career in marine biology, check out the Aquarium of the Pacific’s event to learn more about volunteer programs, travel abroad opportunities, and more!

Friday, 10/27Trick or Treating and Hocus Pocus @ the Battleship Iowa: [Free] Start the evening out trick-or-treating through a portion of the historic battleship (13 years or younger). Later, enjoy a screening on the ship’s fantail of Hocus Pocus!

Saturday, 10/28Halloween-Themed Poetry Slam: [Free] Children’s Book World hosts an event for kids 7-14 years old to express their ghoulish side through an afternoon poetry slam!

Saturday, 10/28Sanrio Costume Contest: [$3] Irvine’s Tanaka Farms is partnering with Hello Kitty throughout October, and hosting a costume contest the last Saturday of the month. Pair admission with a wagon ride and petting zoo visit for $10 per person. There is also face painting, crafts, a U-pick veggie garden, and more!

Saturday, 10/28Nature Walk: [Free] Friends of Madrona Marsh lead a guided walk of the preserve. Learn more about the value of wetlands in an urban environment!
